Modern Storage Media, a trade publication for self-storage owners and operators, published a feature interview with Scott Ramser by Brad Hadfield, the publication's website manager and news writer.

The piece starts in 1986, when Ramser and his grandfather Harold formed Ramser Development Company in Newport Beach. Their first project was an industrial building in downtown Los Angeles. The firm began expanding into RV and boat storage in 2003. The article cites the firm's own figure of more than 10 million square feet of industrial and self-storage real estate acquired, developed or entitled since inception.

Much of the interview is about Florida. RDC's first purchase there, in 2021, was an Altamonte Springs property called Adult Toy Storage. "The first thing I did was change the name," Ramser told Hadfield. He also opened part of the site to industrial outdoor storage for fleets and laydown yards. In his view, commercial and consumer tenants strengthen each other on the same land: "I like to say B2B and B2C work together; it's a great combo."

His advice to self-storage owners considering the segment came back to the tenant. RV and boat customers store vehicles and vessels of real value, and they can drive away. Ramser told owners to be careful with rate increases and to look after their reputation.

The article ends with the next generation: Ally Young, RDC's chief operating officer, and Claire Curci, who leads business management.
